A casserole Grandma Julia "Fern" Hess used to make for her family.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 #1 can sauerkraut (Approx. 10 oz.)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 pkg. hot dogs (optional)
  • 4 cups cooked potatoes, diced
  • buttered bread crumbs

Instructions
 

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix soup and mayonnaise in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Slightly rinse sauerkraut, drain, and put in a medium-sized bowl. Slice hot dogs and add to sauerkraut. Mix in one-half of the soup/mayo mixture and spoon contents of bowl into the bottom of a greased casserole dish.
  • Mix potatoes into the remaining soup/mayo mixture and spread over the hot dog layer. Stir slightly to combine.
  • Top with bread crumbs.
  • Bake for 1 hour or until done.
